Immunogen Sequence: GI # 11995474, sequence 89-100
Synthetic peptide sequence of glycogen synthase kinase 3α.
Application
Anti-GSK3α antibody produced in chicken is suitable for indirect ELISA and western blotting analysis at a dilution of 1:500, for tissue or cell staining at a dilution of 1:200.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Glycogen synthase kinase-3α is an enzyme encoded by the GSK3A gene in humans and is located on chromosome 19q13.2. It is a serine-threonine kinase that exists as two isoforms, α and β. GSK-3α is widely expressed throughout the follicles and plays a role in cancer development such as acute myeloid leukemia (AML). It is an important component of the therapeutic actions of drugs used to treat mood disorders and can be a potential target for developing new therapeutic interventions.
Physical form
Solution in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.02% sodium azide.

Little is known regarding the mechanisms underlying the complex etiology of mood disorders, represented mainly by major depressive disorder and bipolar disorder. The 1996 discovery that lithium inhibits glycogen synthase kinase-3 (GSK3) raised the possibility that impaired inhibition of GSK3

Beta-catenin is involved in the hair follicle morphogenesis and stem cell differentiation, and inhibition of glycogen synthase kinase-3 (GSK-3) increases beta-catenin concentration in the cytoplasm. To examine the effects of GSK-3 inhibition on the hair follicle epithelium, we first examined
Glycogen synthase kinase-3 (GSK-3) is a serine-threonine kinase that exists as two isoforms, alpha and beta, encoded by separate genes. Phosphorylation targets include a variety of cytoplasmic and nuclear proteins. Recent studies found that neurofilaments, amyloid precursor protein, and tau
