General description

The BioTracker exosome membrane labeling probe series can be used for staining the membrane of purified exosomes, which in turn permits imaging of labeled exosomes taken up by cells.SCT266 does not cause aggregation and has little effect on the attributes of exosomes, permitting accurate observation of exosome dynamics.BioTracker exosome membrane labeling probes *eliminate* issues with existing labeling dyes, including:1) self-particle formation2) an increase in size of the exosomes after labelingThree different fluorescence colors---green (SCT265), red (SCT266), and far red (SCT267)--- enable application in multiplexing experiments, such as observation of exosome localization in organelles.Add 10 uL DMSO to tube of green, red, or far red exosome membrane dye to create stock solution.SPECTRAL PROPERTIES:Ex 561nm/Em 570-640nmReferences:Kawata R, Oda S, Koya Y, Kajiyama H, Yokoi T. 2020. Features and Benefits

This live cell probe fluoresces in the red spectral range when it binds to the lipid bilayer in exosome membranes.

Target description

Exosomes are a form of extracellular vesicle (EV), which have been shown to be involved in intercellular communication. To investigate such communication, labeling techniques based on fluorescent dyes are essential. Fluorescent dyes that label the cell membrane are commonly used for exosome labeling because the lipid bilayer in exosomes is an optimal labeling target.

Storage and Stability

Store BioTracker Red Exosome Membrane Labeling Kit at 2 - 8 °C, protected from light. After resuspending in DMSO, store stock solution at -20 °C, protected from light.

Other Notes

This live culture probe for the detection of exosomes labels the lipid bilayers of exosomal membranes, enabling observation of the uptake of exosomes by cells. Exosomes should be purified before labeling.
