General description

Peptide YY (PYY) is a hormone released by the lower GI tract with circulating levels increasing after meals in direct proportion to the caloric content. It is one of the major physiological signals to reduce appetite and food intake. Other functions of PYY are the inhibition of gastric acid secretion, GI motility and pancreatic enzyme output.

Specificity

Human PYY 3-36 100%~Human PYY 1-36 104%~Human [Leu31,Pro34] PYY 138%~Human [Pro34] PYY 158%~Porcine, Canine, Rat, or Mouse PYY Not Detectable
