Application
Tetracalcium phosphate (TTCP) is used in calcium hydroxide cements, and hydrolyzes slowly to form calcium hydroxide and a thin insoluble apatite layer that prevents further reaction. TTCP has a calcium phosphate phase with a Ca/P ratio greater than stoichiometric hydroxyapatite (HA) which makes it useful as a ceramic biomaterial.
