Application

Mixed ionic-electronic conductors based on bismuth oxide having a fluorite structure are attractive materials for solid-state ionic devices and electrochemical processes at intermediate to low temperatures. 25 mol% Y2O3 stabilized Bi2O3 (25YSB) founds applications as electrolyte material for intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cell (IT-SOFC). Composites incorporating yttria-stabilized bismuth oxide (YSB) have also been investigated as cathode material for SOFC; owing to the high oxygen ionic conductivity and catalytic activity of YSB.

In this study, real-time and in-situ permittivity measurements under intense microwave electromagnetic fields are proposed as a powerful technique for the study of microwave-enhanced thermal processes in materials. In order to draw reliable conclusions about the temperatures at which transformations
