CD9 is a glioma stem cell (GSC)-enriched protein, which belongs to tetraspanin family. It is a cell motility related molecule. The gene is located on human chromosome 12p13.31. CD9 is expressed on pre-B cells, activated T cells and Schwann cells.
Immunogen
synthetic peptide corresponding to residues 36-50 of human CD9.
Application
Anti-CD9 antibody produced in rabbit has been used in
immunostaining
identification of hypoxia-induced mesenchymal stem cells (MSC-MVs)
Anti-CD9 antibody produced in rabbit is suitable for immunohistochemistry at a working dilution of 1:100-1:250 and western blotting at a working dilution of 1:500-1:1000. It was used as a primary antibody for the immunolocalization of adhesion protein CD9 during a study to investigate the impact of adhesion proteins on skeletal myoblast differentiation.
Biochem/physiol Actions
CD9 plays a major role in sperm-egg fusion in fertilization. It enhances cancer invasion and tumor growth in cervical cancer, gastric cancer and glioblastoma (GBM). CD9 is involved in cell invasion, apoptosis and resistance to chemotherapy.
Target description
The CD9 protein is a cell surface glycoprotein that is known to complex with integrins and other transmembrane 4 superfamily proteins. It can modulate cell adhesion and migration. It also triggers platelet activation and aggregation. In addition, the protein appears to promote muscle cell fusion and support myotube maintenance.
Physical form
solution in phosphate buffered saline, containing 0.02% sodium azide.
