General description

DHEAS is a metabolite of dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), an endogenous steroid that has been implicated in a broad range of biological effects in humans and other mammals. DHEAS levels are measured by LC-MS/MS for determination of excess adrenal activity as observed in adrenal cancer, certain forms of congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH), and polycystic ovary syndrome.
