General description

We are committed to bringing you Greener Alternative Products, which adhere to one or more of The 12 Principles of Greener Chemistry. This product has been enhanced for energy efficiency. Find details here.

Application

Platinum on carbon (5 wt.% loading, matrix activated carbon support) (Pt/C) can be used as a catalyst for a variety of applications, such as:

  • hydrosilylation reaction for the production of molecules with silicon-carbon bonds
  • direct alcohol fuel cells (DAFCs)
  • an electrocatalyst in hydrogen evolution reaction (HER)
  • formation of nanocatalyst for polymer electrolyte fuel cells
  • hydrogenation of alkenes, alkynes, nitro groups, ketones, and aromatics
  • hydrogenolysis of cyclopropanes
  • oxidation of alcohols.
Pt/C can also be used as an hydrosilylation catalyst. It can convert alkenes and alkynes to chlorosilanes, alkylsilanes, and alkoxysilanes at the temperature and pressure conditions of 100-300 oC and 30-1000 psi, respectively. It may be also used as a catalyst in methanol fuel cells.

Product can be used with our benchtop hydrogen generator, H-Genie Lite (Z744083)

In this study, a method of disposing food waste is introduced via catalytic pyrolysis under CO2 condition. The catalyst and CO2 hindered the generation of condensable compounds, leading to enhancing non-condensable gas generation. However, they did not affect the amount
