Nicotinamide belongs to the group of water-soluble B vitamins. It is generally formed from nicotinic acid (vitamin B3). It is available in food products and is utilized for the treatment of pellagra, psoriasis, schizophrenia, and type I diabetes. It is also known for its anti-inflammatory activity.

Application

Nicotinamide can be used as an EP reference standard for the quantification of the analyte in pharmaceutical formulations and biological fluids by chromatography, UV-visible spectrophotometry and multivariate analysis.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Nicotinamide is an amide derivative of vitamin B3 and a PARP inhibitor
