General description
3-(Triethoxysilyl)propionitrile (TESPN) is an organosilyl sol gel that can be used as a silane based coupling agent to improve the adhesion between metal-polymeric composite. It is non-toxic and cost efficient which makes it a suitable alternative to the existing chromate treatment of metals. It can be used in surface modification of silica based surfaces.
Application
3-(Triethoxysilyl)propionitrile (TESPN) may be coated on quartz and aluminum by the sol-gel process.
TESPN can functionalize silica nanoparticles for the fabrication of solid state electrolyte based dye sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) and for the development of PVDf based ultrafiltration membranes for antifouling applications. It can also be used in the synthesis of SBA-15 for the formation of mesoporous silica for drug delivery applications.
