General description

Sphaerobioside, an isoflavonoid glycoside, serves as a secondary metabolite found in several plant species, such as Riosema tuberosum, Baptisia sphaerocarpa, Sphaerophysa salsula, Sphaeranthus indicus, and Sphaeranthus africanus. This compound possesses a diverse range of properties, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anticancer characteristics.

Application

It is a natural product derived from plant source that finds application in compound screening libraries, metabolomics, phytochemical and biochemical research.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Sphaerobioside′s mode of action includes the inhibition of multiple enzymes and signaling pathways. It has been observed to suppress the activity of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), an enzyme pivotal in the inflammatory response. Additionally, Sphaerobioside hinders the activation of nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB), a transcription factor that plays a crucial role in regulating inflammation and the immune response. It can also trigger apoptosis and hinder cell proliferation in multiple cancer cell lines, as well as exhibit neuroprotective qualities, showing promise in enhancing cognitive function in animal models of Alzheimer′s disease.

Features and Benefits

  • High quality compound suitable for multiple research applications
  • Compatible with HPLC and mass spectrometry techniques
