Gene Information

human ... HDAC6(10013)

General description

Histone deacetylase 6 (HDAC6) is a class IIb histone deacetylase which is localized in the cytosol. It has two catalytic domains. The protein is expressed in the heart, brain, colon, breast, ovary, pancreas and prostate glands. The gene encoding HDAC6 is localized on human chromosome Xp11.23. Anti-HDAC6 Antibody detects endogenous levels of total HDAC6 protein.

Immunogen

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human HDAC6.

Immunogen Range: 7-56

Biochem/physiol Actions

Histone deacetylase 6 (HDAC6) deacetylates substrates like α-tubulin. It is involved in endocytosis and autophagy. HDAC6 functions in cellular mechanisms connected to cancer and modulates cell motility.
