General description
HIPK3 (homeodomain-interacting protein kinase 3) is strongly expressed in the heart and muscle tissues. It is up-regulated in multidrug-resistant cells.
Biochem/physiol Actions
HIPK3 (homeodomain-interacting protein kinase 3) is a nuclear serine/threonine protein kinase and mainly controls death receptor signaling. HIPK3 is involved in the transcriptional corepression, cell differentiation, growth suppression and apoptosis. It is up-regulated in prostate cancer cells, resulting in increased resistance to Fas receptor-mediated apoptosis by disturbing association between FADD (fas-associated death domain) and caspase 8.
Physical form
Supplied in 50 mM Sodium Phosphate, pH 7.0, with 150 mM imidazole, 0.1 mM PMSF, 0.2 mM DTT, and 25% glycerol.

Steroids are synthesized in adrenal glands and gonads under the control of pituitary peptides. These peptides bind to cell surface receptors to activate the cyclic AMP (cAMP) signaling pathway leading to an increase of steroidogenic gene expression. Exactly how cAMP

We have previously shown that several protein kinases are present in higher activity levels in multidrug resistant cell lines, such as KB-V1. We have now isolated a gene that codes for a putative protein kinase, PKY, of over 130 kDa

Elevated endogenous JNK activity and resistance to Fas receptor-mediated apoptosis have recently been implicated in progression of prostate cancer and can promote resistance to apoptosis in response to chemotherapeutic drugs. In addition, JNK has been demonstrated to promote transformation of
