General description

AH13205 is EP2 prostanoid receptor agonist[1]. There are five types of prostanoid receptors, which are classified based on sensitivity to the five naturally-occuring prostanoid ligand. The EP type of receptor is further divided into four subgroups – EP1, EP2, EP3 and EP4. EP2 activation results in vascular, bronchial and reproductive smooth muscle relaxation.

Biochem/physiol Actions

AH13205 is a selective, low potency agonist for the EP2 receptor. AH13205 has been shown to compete with Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) for binding, resulting in the displacement of PGE2 binding.
