General description

Sodium iodate (NaIO3) is colorless sodium salt having rhombic crystals. It exhibits oxidizing properties. In nature, it is found in Chile saltpeter.[1]

Application

Sodium iodate may be employed as a starting reagent in the preparation of iodine and its derivatives.[1] It may be employed as a catalyst in the synthesis of bis-indol.[2]
