Basic fuchsin is a triaminotriphenylmethane dye that is widely used to stain muscle, mitochondria, and collagen. It is generally a mixture of pararosaniline (C.I. 42500), rosaniline (C.I. 42510), magenta II and new fuchsine (CI 42520).
Application
Basic fuchsin is utilized for various applications:
Acid-fast staining
Periodic Acid-Schiff
Feulgen stain for DNA
ENDO culture medium
Leifson′s method for bacterial flagella
Biochem/physiol Actions
