Anoctamin-1, Discovered on gastrointestinal stromal tumors protein 1, Oral cancer overexpressed protein 2, Transmembrane protein 16A, Tumor-amplified and overexpressed sequence 2
Discovered on gastrointestinal stromal tumors protein 1 (Dog1), also known as Anoctamin-1/TMEM16A, is a novel multi-pass membrane protein belonging to the anoctamin family. Anoctamin-1/TMEM16A functions as a Ca2+-activated Cl- channel and is a required component of tracheal development. Expression of Anoctamin-1/TMEM16A is elevated in the gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs), KIT signaling-driven mesenchymal tumors of the GI tract. It is also expressed at more moderate levels in epithelia from foregut, kidney, lung, pancreas and salivary glands. Recent studies suggest that it may serve a roll as a diagnostic marker in the classification of GISTs.
Specificity
This antibody recognizes isoforms 1 and 2 of Anoctamin-1 based upon immunogen design.
