Gene Information

human ... STEAP4(79689)

General description

Metalloreductase STEAP4 (STEAP4), also known as Dudulin-4, Six-transmembrane epithelial antigen of prostate 4, Tumor necrosis factor-alpha-induced adipose related protein, and encoded by the gene name STEAP4 and TIARP, is a metalloreductase that has the ability to reduce both Fe3+ to Fe2+ and Cu2+ to Cu1+. STEAP4 inhibits anchorage-independent cell proliferation and uses NAD+ as acceptor. STEAP4 is associated with obesity and insulin-resistance, and might be involved in inflammatory arthritis, through the regulation of inflammatory cytokines. STEAP4 has been shown to play an important role in systemic metabolic homeostasis, integrating inflammatory and metabolic responses. STEAP4 interacts with and phosphorylates PTK2/FAK1. STEAP4 is expressed in white and brown adipose tissues cells, as well as in muscle and liver cells. In addition, STEAP4 has been detected in joints and spleens of arthritic mice.

Immunogen

Recombinant protein corresponding to mouse STEAP4.

Application

Anti-STEAP4 is an antibody against STEAP4 for use in WB, IH.
Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A representative lot detected STEAP4 in Adipose tissue, prostate tissue, and prostate cancer tissue (Freyhaus, H., et al. (2012) Cell Metabolism. 16:81-89).

Quality

Evaluated by Western Blotting in mouse liver tissue lysate.

Western Blotting Analysis: A 1:500 dilution of this antibody detected STEAP4 in 10 µg of mouse liver tissue lysate.

Target description

~58 kDa observed. The calculated molecular weight is 52 kDa, however STEAP4 has been shown as a ~58 kDa band in some western blots (Freyhaus, H., et al. (2012) Cell Metabolism. 16:81-89).

Physical form

Rabbit polyclonal serum with 0.05% sodium azide.
Unpurified

Storage and Stability

Stable for 1 year at -20°C from date of receipt.
Handling Recommendations: Upon receipt and prior to removing the cap, centrifuge the vial and gently mix the solution. Aliquot into microcentrifuge tubes and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may damage IgG and affect product performance.

Other Notes

Concentration: Please refer to lot specific datasheet.
