General description
Do not disturb until the fibrinogen is completely solubilized.
Native fibrinogen from human plasma. A plasma glycoprotein, essential for clotting blood. Synthesized and secreted by hepatic parenchymal cells. Fibrinogen, also known as Coagulation Factor I, is an acute-phase plasma protein found at a concentration of about 300 mg/100 ml. Conversion of soluble fibrinogen to the insoluble clot-forming fibrin is the terminal stage of blood clotting. Clinically, fibrinogen is found at elevated levels during pregnancy, after surgical trauma, or in cases of myocardial infarction, and is decreased in cases of liver cirrhosis and serum hepatitis.
Native fibrinogen from human plasma. A plasma glycoprotein, essential for clotting of blood, synthesized and secreted by hepatic parenchymal cells. Contains ≥ 90% clottable proteins.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Contains ≥90% clottable proteins.
Warning
Toxicity: Harmful (C)
Physical form
Lyophilized from 20 mM sodium citrate-HCl, pH 7.4.
Preparation Note
Prepared from plasma that has been shown by certified tests to be negative for HBsAg and for antibodies to HIV and HCV.
Reconstitution
Following reconstitution, aliquot and freeze (-70°C). Do not store solutions on ice; precipitation will occur. Stock solutions are stable for up to 6 months at -70°C. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles.
Protein must be thawed in a 37°C water bath. Solutions used to reconstitute fibrinogen should first be brought to 37°C. Once at 37°C, the solution can be added to the fibrinogen and this mixture should remain at 37°C until the fibrinogen is completely solubilized. If the vial is disturbed before the fibrinogen is completely dissolved, the fibrinogen will precipitate. Please see vial label for lot-specific reconstitution volume.
Analysis Note
homogeneous by SDS-PAGE.
