General description

Ruthenium on carbon is a powdered form of catalytic metal ruthenium supported on high-surface area conductive carbon, which makes it useful as an electrocatalyst. Ruthenium-based electrocatalysts are studied in fuel cells and water electrolyzers. It is also used in chemical hydrogenation reactions for example of the hydrogenation of aldehydes, ketones, sugars, and some aromatics
We are committed to bringing you Greener Alternative Products, which adhere to one or more of The 12 Principles of Greener Chemistry. This product has been enhanced for energy efficiency. Find details here.

Application

Ruthenium on carbon (Ru/C) can be used as a heterogeneous noble metal catalyst for the hydrotreatment of fast pyrolysis of oil derived from lignocellulosic biomass. It can be used in combination with an Amberlyst heat resistant ion-exchange resin for the hydrogenolysis of glycerol to 1,2-propanediol.
