General description

A Certified Spiking Solution® applicable in LC/MS or GC/MS applications for cannabinoid testing, urine drug testing, clinical toxicology, or forensic analysis. 11-Hydroxy-Δ9-THC is an active metabolite of THC and metabolic precursor to 11-nor-9-carboxy-Δ9-THC. This cannabinoid is found in biological matrices including urine, blood, and plasma.

Application

  • Quantitative Bioanalysis in Cannabis Research: (±)-11-Hydroxy-Δ⁹-THC solution is utilized in the development and validation of a liquid chromatography high-resolution mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS) method. This method quantifies cannabinoids in whole blood, specifically targeting recent cannabis use, which is crucial for both clinical and legal purposes (DeGregorio et al., 2020).

Generally, urinary 11-nor-9-carboxy-Delta9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THCCOOH) after alkaline hydrolysis is monitored to detect cannabis exposure, although last use may have been weeks prior in chronic cannabis users. Delta9-Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and 11-hydroxy-THC (11-OH-THC) concentrations in urine following Escherichia coli beta-glucuronidase hydrolysis were proposed

When defendants are confronted with evidence of cannabinoids in their blood suggesting consumption of cannabis they sometimes argue that this could only be due to a passive exposure. The small number of controlled studies available showed that tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the
