General description
Europium(III) oxide, also known as europia, is a rare earth metal oxide with high density of 7.42 g/mL at 25 °C. It is widely used in the production of phosphors for cathode ray tubes, X-ray intensifying screens, and fluorescent lamps due to its strong red emission under UV excitation. Europium(III) oxide is a convenient source of europium for doping other metal oxides. Europium doping often imparts fluorescence and photoluminescence, owing to europium’s electron configuration with partially filled f-orbitals. Our high-purity Eu2O3 is a key component in the development of energy-efficient lighting and displays, including LED-based technologies.
Application
- Microwave-assisted synthesis of europium (III) oxide decorated reduced graphene oxide nanocomposite for detection of chloramphenicol in food samples: Describes the use of Eu2O3 nanoparticles decorated reduced graphene oxide for developing an amperometric sensor for chloramphenicol detection (Rajaji et al., 2019).
