Gene Information

Application

Adenosine 5′-diphosphate (5′-ADP or ADP) was used as a test compound for studying the endothelium-dependent vascular response in salt sensitive (DS) and salt resistant Dahl rats (DR). The product was used to study the different P2-purinergic receptor subtypes on canine vascular smooth muscle and endothelium.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Adenosine 5′-diphosphate induces human platelet aggregation and non-competitively blocks the stimulated human platelet adenylate cyclase.

Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) is a widespread pathogen that correlates with various clinical complications, including atherosclerosis. HCMV is released into the circulation during primary infection and periodic viral reactivation, allowing virus-platelet interactions. Platelets are important in the onset and development of

Platelet aggregation plays an important role in the pathogenesis in arterial thrombotic disorders. The binding of fibrinogen via the Arg-Gly-Asp (RGD) recognition sequence to the platelet glycoprotein IIb/IIIa (GPIIb/IIIa) receptor is an essential step of platelet aggregation induced by various
