General description

Cardiolipin, a unique phospholipid is present and synthesised in the inner mitochondrial membrane.
TopFluor cardiolipin is a fluorescent analog of the bioactive phospholipid, cardiolipin.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Cardiolipin is very much essential for the functional activity of several inner mitochondrial membrane proteins, like respiratory chain complexes. It participates in mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation. It is also essential for proper functioning and structure of the inner mitochondrial membrane (IMM).
