General description

Syndecan binding protein (SDCBP), also known as syntenin and melanoma differentiation associated gene-9 (mda-9), was initially identified as a molecule linking syndecan-mediated signaling to the cytoskeleton. SDCBP contains tandemly repeated PDZ domains that binds the cytoplasmic, C-terminal domains of a variety of transmembrane proteins. SDCBP is primarily localized to membrane associated adherens junctions and focal adhesions but is also found at the endoplasmic reticulum and nucleus.

Application

Anti-SDCBP antibody produced in rabbit has been used in:
  • enzyme linked immuno sorbent assay (ELISA)
  • immunoblotting
  • immunocytochemistry

Biochem/physiol Actions

Syndecan binding protein (SDCBP) regulates cytoskeletal-membrane organization, cell adhesion, protein trafficking and the activation of transcription factors. SDCBP promotes metastasis in human melanoma cells by activating c-Src.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
