General description

Lasalocid is an antibacterial agent, belonging to the carboxylic polyether group of antibiotics, produced by the fermentation of Streptomyces lasaliensis. It is commercially available as a sodium salt and is reported to be used as a coccidiostat in poultry.

Application

Lasalocid A sodium salt may be used as an analytical standard for the quantification of lasalocid in the following:
  • Poultry feeds using liquid chromatography with ultraviolet detection (LC-UV).
  • Animal liver and eggs using liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS-MS).
  • Eggs using liquid chromatography-electrospray mass spectrometry (LC-EMS).
