Gene Information

human ... CENPA(1058)

General description

Anti-Centromeric protein A Antibody detects endogenous levels of total Centromeric protein A protein.
Centromeric Protein A (CENPA), is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 2p23.3. The encoded protein is a longer variant of histone H3 in humans.

Immunogen

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human Centromeric Protein A.

Immunogen Range: 1-50

Biochem/physiol Actions

Centromeric Protein A (CENPA) plays a vital role in centromere specification and facilitates its mitotic function and epigenetic maintenance. CENP-A-nucleosome associated complex (NAC) is implicated in the regulation of chromosome congression and spindle bipolarity. Disorganization of this complex leads to change in chromosome alignment and segregation that prevent cell survival regardless of continued centromere-derived mitotic checkpoint signaling.
