This product has a usable range of -40 to +450 degrees Fahrenheit. The item is not tested for use in any specific application. Suitability would have to be determined by the end user. However, there are certain silicone oils that mention dielectric strengths and that list the potential of silicone oil as a dielectric coolant.

Will this oil work as a Hydraulic oil / fluid ? Note: the cylinder does not cycle per say... It supplies pressure to tension a chain in a Hot Press. it sits at approx.. 400* Deg. F for a week at a time.
1 answer-
This product is identical to the Dow Corning 550 Fluid and has a viscosity of 125 cS. The viscosity/temperature coefficient is 0.76. This product has a suitable working parameter for a temperature range between −40-450 °F. This fluid is typically used with hydraulic arrestors and hydraulic actuated valves. The temperature of your application does not appear to be an issue, however it would be up to the end user to determine suitability based on the specifications cited above.
