Biochem/physiol Actions

RA839 is an active in vivo, highly selective and potent activator of Nrf2 (transcription factor NF-E2-related factor 2) signaling. RA839 binds noncovalently to the Nrf2-interacting kelch domain of Keap1 thereby inhibiting the interaction between Keap1 and Nrf2. RA839 inhibits the induction of both inducible nitric oxide synthase expression and nitric oxide release in response to lipopolysaccharides in macrophages. RA-839 is a potent antagonist of Rotavirus propagation in vitro that inhibits viral RNA and protein expression.

Acute watery diarrhea due to Rotavirus (RV) infection is associated with high infantile morbidity and mortality in countries with compromised socio-economic backgrounds. Although showing promising trends in developed countries, the efficacy of currently licensed RV vaccines is sub-optimal in socio-economically

Inhibiting the protein-protein interaction (PPI) between the transcription factor Nrf2 and its repressor protein Keap1 has emerged as a promising strategy to target oxidative stress in diseases, including central nervous system (CNS) disorders. Numerous non-covalent small-molecule Keap1-Nrf2 PPI inhibitors have
