General description

Glutamic Acid Decarboxylase 67 (GAD67) is encoded by the gene glutamic acid decarboxylase 1 (GAD1). GAD1 gene is located on the human chromosome at 2q31.1. GAD67 is localized in the dendrites and cell bodies.

Specificity

Reacts specifically with GAD67. Does not crossreact with GAD65.

Immunogen

This peptide does not share homology with GAD65.
synthetic peptide from mouse GAD67 (amino acids 87-106).

Application

Monoclonal Anti-Glutamic Acid Decarboxylase 67 (GAD67) antibody is suitable for use in immunoblot, western blot (at 1:500-1:20,000 dilutions using mouse brain extract) and immunohistochemistry (at 1:500-1:20,000 dilutions in mouse brain sections).
Monoclonal anti-glutamic acid decarboxylase 67 (GAD67) antibody produced in mouse has been used in:
  • immunohistofluorescence
  • western blotting
  • immunohistochemistry.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Glutamic Acid Decarboxylase 67 (GAD67) is involved in the production of γ-amino butyric acid (GABA), a inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system (CNS). Deficiency of GAD67 leads to psychosis, schizophrenia and bipolar diseases.

Physical form

Solution in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.01% sodium azide.
