Description

General description

Mercury(II) acetate forms various addition compounds with olefins. Polarographic evaluation of these addition compounds has been proposed.[1] It participates in the synthesis of nitrate esters, acetate esters, alcohols and ethers.[2]

Application

Mercury(II) acetate may be used in the preparation of 2-benzylidene-3(2H)-benzofuran-3-ones (aurones).[3]
