General description
Phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PI(4,5)P2) is an anionic lipid and is present in the plasma membrane (PM).
Biochem/physiol Actions
Phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PI(4,5)P2) is a lipid messenger. It controls exocytosis, actin cytoskeleton dynamics and endocytosis. It also plays a key role in signal transduction, vesicle trafficking and motility. The azido functional group in the lipid may involve in a copper-catalyzed reaction to form click reaction.

Phosphoinositides are a collection of lipid messengers that regulate most subcellular processes. Amongst the seven phosphoinositide species, the roles for phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate [PtdIns(4,5)P2] at the plasma membrane, such as in endocytosis, exocytosis, actin polymerization and focal adhesion assembly, have been

PtdIns(4,5)P2 (phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate) is a relatively common anionic lipid that regulates cellular functions by multiple mechanisms. Hydrolysis of PtdIns(4,5)P2 by phospholipase C yields inositol trisphosphate and diacylglycerol. Phosphorylation by phosphoinositide 3-kinase yields PtdIns(3,4,5)P3, which is a potent signal for survival

PI(4,5)P2 controls plasma membrane PI4P and PS levels via ORP5/8 recruitment to ER-PM contact sites.

Phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PI(4,5)P2) is a critically important regulatory lipid of the plasma membrane (PM); however, little is known about how cells regulate PM PI(4,5)P2 levels. Here, we show that the phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate (PI4P)/phosphatidylserine (PS) transfer activity of the endoplasmic reticulum
