General description

2-Hydroxy-4-methoxybenzophenone (benzophenone-3) is commonly employed as a broad-band UV-filter in sunscreen cosmetic products. It protects skin from the deleterious effects of the sun. It is one of the sunscreen constituent and its trace determination in water samples by solid-phase microextraction (SPME) and gas chromatography with flame ionization and mass spectrometric detection has been reported.

Application

2-Hydroxy-4-methoxybenzophenone may be used in the following studies:
  • Synthesis of as poly[(2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzophenone) propylene] (HMBP-PD), a polymeric ligand (resin) used for the synthesis of metal/ligand polychelates (metal-polymer complexes).
  • Analytical reagent for the gravimetric determination of Cu(II).

A method has been developed for the trace determination of two sunscreen constituents (2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzophenone and octyldimethyl-p-aminobenzoic acid) in water samples, which are commonly used in commercial formulations. The method employs solid-phase microextraction (SPME) and gas chromatography with flame ionization and

We sought to determine the association between EDCs and allergic sensitization and whether this relationship depends on the antimicrobial properties of the EDCs, sex
