General description

Poly(3-hydroxybutyric acid-co-3-hydroxyvaleric acid) is a biocompatible and biodegradable polymer which is produced naturally by a number of microorganisms.[1]

Application

PHBV based foam matrix may be used to produce tissue engineered bone.[1] It was used as a standard for calibration in another study which focused on the effect of fatty acids on PHA producing microorganism communities.[2]
