General description

15:0-18:1-d7 DG (1-pentadecanoyl-2-oleyol(d7)-sn-glycerol) is a deuterated derivative of 15:0-18:1-DG, with deuteration in the oleic acid bonded to glycerol in sn-2 position. Pentadecanoic is bonded to sn-1 position. Diacylglycerols (DAG) are neutral lipids that carry fatty acid esterification. DAG is synthesized from the catabolic cleavage of headgroups of phospholipids. It is a small lipid and is membrane-associated.
This deuterium labeled lipid is also available in a formulation of multiple lipid standards. The SPLASH LIPIDOMIX Standard includes all of the major lipid classes at ratios relative to human plasma, allowing one easy internal standard solution to be added to every sample.

Application

15:0-18:1-d7 DG (1-pentadecanoyl-2-oleyol(d7)-sn-glycerol) has been used:
  • as an internal standard to spike skeletal muscle samples for liquid chromatography-mass spectroscopy (LC-MS) analysis
  • as a lipid standard in mass spectroscopy for the identification of lipids in mitochondria and lipid droplets
  • in the egg yolk lipid extraction as an internal standard for mass spectroscopy analysis

Biochem/physiol Actions

Diacylglycerols (DAG) are lipid messengers that participate in metabolic events. Altered levels, especially accumulation of DAG is implicated in insulin resistance. DAG serves as lipid modules for complex lipid synthesis. Protein kinase C (PKC) modulates DAG by interacting through its C1 domain. Impairment in DAG production is correlated to the pathology of Alzheimer′s disease, cancer and immune system diseases.
