Application

23:2 Diyne PE [DC(8,9)PE] or 1,2-bis(10,12-tricosadiynoyl)-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine has been used to form functional hybrid-liposomes. It has also been used to modify single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs).

Biochem/physiol Actions

23:2 Diyne PE [DC(8,9)PE] or 1,2-bis(10,12-tricosadiynoyl)-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine is a photo-polymerizable lipid. It forms intermolecular cross-linking through the diacetylenic groups. Thus, preferred for the formation of hybrid-liposomes.

These studies show that single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) can be effectively modified using phospholipids. Using a simple surface modification of SWNTs, followed by deposition of 1,2-bis(10,12-tricosadiynoyl)-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine (DCPE) phosphipid, results in stable water-dispersible SWNTs with highly uniform thickness.

We formed monolayers and black lipid membranes (BLMs) of photopolymerizable lipids mixed with the channel-forming protein gramicidin A to evaluate their miscibility and the potential for improved stability of the BLM scaffold through polymerization. Analyses of surface pressure vs area

The novel endocannabinoid-like lipid N-arachidonoyl L-serine (ARA-S) causes vasodilation through both endothelium-dependent and -independent mechanisms. We have analyzed the vasorelaxant effect of ARA-S in isolated vascular preparations and its effects on Ca(2+)-activated K(+) currents in human embryonic kidney cells stably

A combination of nonpolymerizable phospholipids (DPPC or DPhPC) and a smaller amount of cross-linking photopolymerizable phospholipids (23:2 DiynePC) is incorporated in an unsupported artificial lipid bilayer formed using the droplet interface bilayer (DIB) approach.
