General description

Gold (III) chloride hydrate, also known as chloroauric acid, is used as precursor to synthesize gold nanoparticles. It also exihibits very high catalytic activity.

Application

Used as a catalyst in asymmetric aldol reactions, diboration of vinylarenes, dehydrogenative dimerizations of trialkystannanes, carbonylation of olefins and amines, C-C, C-O bond couplings, oxidation of sulfides, selective oxidation of thioethers.
