General description

Application: The incorporation of acid functional groups into the phase lends an acidic character to this column, useful for analyses of volatile acidic compounds. Difficult to analyze carboxylic acids (free fatty acids) can be analyzed with excellent peak shape and minimal adsorption.
USP Code: This column meets USP G25 and G35 requirements.
Phase:
  • Bonded
  • Acid-modified poly(ethylene glycol)
Temp. Limits:
  • 60 °C to 200 °C (isothermal) or 220 °C (programmed)
Capillary GC column is also known as open tubular column. The carrier gas flows through the central aperture and is unrestricted throughout the length of the column.

Application

The Nukol column is used for the analysis ofvolatile short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs). The Nukol column is specificallydesigned for volatile acids, allowing for the effective separation andquantification of these compounds in fecal samples. The GC system with theNukol column facilitates the measurement of SCFA concentrations, which are important metabolic products of gut microbial fermentation.

Nukol Capillary GC Column may be used in the quantitative determination of C2-C8 free carboxylic acids in dairy products by gas chromatography. It may also be used for the determination of the free concentration of valproic acid in human plasma by equilibrium dialysis followed by solid-phase microextraction (SPME) and capillary gas chromatography.

Other Notes

We offer a variety of chromatography accessories including analytical syringes

Questions

1–6 of 6 Questions
  1. Which solvents is column 25326 compatible with?

    1 answer
    1. The column 25326 is chemically compatible with water and other injection solvents. However, solvents such as water and methanol must be vaporized before reaching the column inlet and should be avoided when using on-column injection techniques. It is sensitive to strong inorganic acids. Additionally, the columns can be rinsed.

      Helpful?

  2. What is the compatibility of water, methanol, ethanol, and other solvents known to be compatible?

    1 answer
    1. The NUKOL and SPB-1000, an upgraded version of the NUKOL Capillary GC column, are both bonded-phase columns and are chemically compatible with water and other injection solvents, such as those used for the analysis of FAMEs using chloroform or methylene chloride.
However, when using solvents like water, methanol, and ethanol, it is essential for them to be vaporized before reaching the column inlet. It is advisable to avoid these solvents when using on-column injection techniques.

      Helpful?

  3. What is the diameter of the column cage for Product number 25326, Nukol™ Capillary GC Column?

    1 answer
    1. For the 0.10-0.25mm ID columns, the cage is 6 in.  The cage is 8 in. for all other columns.

      Helpful?

  4. Can I get a NUKOL capillary column with different dimensions than what you have as stock items?

    1 answer
    1. Yes, we should be able to manufacture this column in most standard capillary column dimensions as custom items.

      Helpful?

  5. What is the Department of Transportation shipping information for this product?

    1 answer
    1. Transportation information can be found in Section 14 of the product's (M)SDS.To access the shipping information for this material, use the link on the product detail page for the product.

      Helpful?

  6. What is the phase makeup of the Nukol™ Capillary GC Column, Product 25326?

    1 answer
    1. This phase is a polyethylene glycol phase with the incorporation of acidic functional groups.  This makes the phase useful for volatile acidic compounds.
