Tested Applications

Protein S100-A8 (UniProt: P05109; also known as MRP-8, Migration inhibitory factor-related protein 8 Calgranulin-A, Calprotectin L1L subunit, Leukocyte L1 complex light chain, p8, S100 calcium-binding protein A8) is encoded by the S100A8 (also known as MRP8) gene (Gene ID:  6279) in human. Protein S100-A8 is a calcium- and zinc-binding proteins that plays a prominent role in the regulation of inflammatory processes and immune response. It is known to induce neutrophil chemotaxis and adhesion. It is predominantly found as calprotectin and performs a variety of intra- and extracellular functions. Its intracellular functions include facilitating leukocyte arachidonic acid trafficking and metabolism, modulation of the tubulin-dependent cytoskeleton during migration of phagocytes, and activation of the neutrophilic NADPH-oxidase. Protein S100-A8 activates NADPH-oxidase by facilitating the enzyme complex assembly at the cell membrane. It contributes to the enzyme assembly by directly binding to NCF2/P67PHOX. Its extracellular functions include pro-inflammatory, antimicrobial, oxidant-scavenging, and induction of apoptosis. MRP-8 also acts as danger associated molecular pattern (DAMP) molecule and stimulates innate immune cells via binding to pattern recognition receptors such as Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) and receptor for advanced glycation end (AGER) products. It also plays an impotent role as oxidant scavengers and has a protective role in preventing exaggerated tissue damage by scavenging oxidants. This ZooMAb^® recombinant monoclonal antibody, generated by our propriety technology, offers significantly enhanced specificity, affinity, reproducibility, and stability over conventional monoclonals. Purified recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibody IgG, lyophilized in PBS, 5% Trehalose, normal appearance a coarse or translucent resin. The PBS/trehalose components in the ZooMAb formulation can have the appearance of a semi-solid (bead like gel) after lyophilization. This is a normal phenomenon.
