The standard included in this kit is a 50 mM solution of Trolox ((±)-6-Hydroxy-2,5,7,8-tetramethylchromane-2-carboxylic acid) in alcohol. The solution may be aliquoted and stored at -20°C to avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles. However, following dilution in water to the working concentration, the standard should used immediately and not stored for later use. How can I determine the shelf life / expiration / retest date of this product?

If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.
For products without retest or expiration dates, our standard warranty of 1 year from the date of shipment is applicable.

How is shipping temperature determined? And how is it related to the product storage temperature?

Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature. As shipping routes are configured for minimum transit times, shipping at ambient temperature helps control shipping costs for our customers. This kit is not capable of determining enzymatic activity. The product is intended for use in measuring total antioxidant capacity (TAC) of a given sample as compared to a standard curve based on serial dilutions of Trolox. The kit principal is based on the reduction of Cu2+ to Cu+. Please see the link below to review additional information in the product datasheet:

Can this kit be used with tissue extracts? If yes, how to extract the tissue (liver)?

Yes, this kit is suitable for use with tissue extracts. The tissue preparation recommendations are as follows:
Homogenize tissue samples on ice in cold 1xPBS.
(use approximately 0.5 mL PB per 100 mg of tissue)
Centrifuge at 12,000g for 15 minutes at 4°C.
Remove the supernatant and keep it on ice.
Note that the supernatant may be stored in working aliquots at –80°C until ready for testing.Helpful?
