General description

LIPT1 codes for lipoyltransferase 1 catalyzes the transfer of lipoyl groups to apoproteins. It is involved in the modification of cellular proteins and lipid metabolism.
Rabbit Anti-LIPT1 antibody recognizes chicken, rat, canine, bovine, human, and mouse LIPT1.

The process of transferring lipoic acid to proteins is a two-step process. The first step is the activation of lipoic acid by lipoate-activating enzyme to form lipoyl-AMP.
