General description
Designed for use in thrombin clotting time tests. Serine protease formed in the plasma during the clotting process from prothrombin, calcium, and thromboplasmin. Acts on the soluble plasma protein fibrinogen to convert it to an insoluble fibrin clot. Prepared from homogenous human prothrombin by activation with Factor Xa, Factor Va, and phospholipid. Designed for use in thrombin time tests.
Physical form
Lyophilized from 200 mM NaCl, 50 mM sodium citrate, 0.1% PEG-8000, pH 6.5.
Preparation Note
Following reconstitution, aliquot and freeze (-20°C). Stock solutions are stable for up to 6 months at -20°C.
Prepared from plasma that has been shown by certified tests to be negative for HBsAg and for antibodies to HIV and HCV.

This product is sold by units rather than mass weight. To prepare a 1000 U/mL solution, add 100 ul H2O to the vial. The activity of the lot that you have received is 3078 U/mg protein. In the 100 unit vial there will be 32.4 ug of protein.
