Gene Information

human ... NTRK2(4915)

General description

NTRK2 (neurotrophic tyrosine kinase receptor type 2) is also known as TRKB (tropomyosin receptor kinase B). It belongs to the Trk family of neurotrophin receptors. It is located on chromosome 9q21.32.

Immunogen

Peptide sequence around phosphorylation site of tyrosine 515 (P-Q-Y(p)-F-G), according to the protein NTRK2.

Application

Anti-phospho-NTRK2 (pTyr515) antibody has been used in western blotting.

Biochem/physiol Actions

In NB (neuroblastoma), NTRK2 (neurotrophic tyrosine kinase receptor type 2) controls the favorable and unfavorable clinical actions. It also controls the roles of glutamate receptor and synaptic plasticity in the amygdala .

Target description

Receptor for brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), neurotrophin-3 and neurotrophin-4/5 but not nerve growth factor (NGF). Involved in the development and/or maintenance of the nervous system. This is a tyrosine-protein kinase receptor. Known substrates for the TRK receptors are SHC1, PI-3 kinase, and PLC-gamma-1.

Physical form

Solution in phosphate-buffered saline containing 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol

Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) is a key regulator of the morphology and connectivity of central neurons. We have previously shown that BDNF/TrkB signaling regulates the activity and mobility of the GTPases Rab5 and Rab11, which in turn determine the postendocytic
