    1. This product is a 50ml volume of Alizarin Red Solution.

      Helpful?

  2. I need to use Alizarin Red Solution (2003999) to highlight the osteogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells plated on a Matrigel coated glass disc. Since 4% PFA can dissolve Matrigel, is it possible to fix the cells with methanol or ethanol?

    1 answer
    1. Methanol or ethanol can be used as fixatives for cells plated on Matrigel-coated glass discs for Alizarin Red staining. This method is a viable alternative to 4% PFA, which can dissolve Matrigel. This approach is supported by indirect evidence from the Nature Communications 2023 citation of this product by Kumar, B., Khatpe, A.S., Guanglong, J. et al., titled "Stromal heterogeneity may explain the increased incidence of metaplastic breast cancer in women of African descent," Nat Commun 14, 5683 (2023).

  3. Can this product be used to stain osteocytes?

    1 answer
    1. Yes this product may be used to stain osteocytes. This material is a widely used dye for identifying and quantifying mineralization in cell culture.
Several studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of Alizarin-Red staining in detecting calcium deposits, a hallmark of osteocyte and osteoblast activity.
