Gene Information

General description

GLUT-8 is a glucose transporter facilitated by the regulation of insulin, binding cytochalasin B such that the orientation is glucose-inhibitive. In appearance, the transporter seems to be a dual-specific sugar transporter since fructose can also be inhibitive. GLUT-8 is expressed largely in the testis, where down-regulation is facilitated by estrogen. However, GLUT-8 is not highly expressed in testicular carcinoma. Lower levels of GLUT-8 are present in most other tissues.

Specificity

Recognizes GLUT-8.

Immunogen

An 11 amino acid sequence near the C-terminus of mouse Glut-8 (Doege et al. 2000; Carayannopoulos et al. 2000)
Epitope: C-terminus

Application

Anti-GLUT-8 Antibody, C-terminus detects level of GLUT-8 & has been published & validated for use in IH(P).

Microangiopathy, including proliferation of small diameter capillaries, increasing vessel tortuosity, and increased capillary blockage by leukocytes, was previously observed in the aged rTg4510 mouse model. Similar gene expression changes related to angiogenesis were observed in both rTg4510 and Alzheimer's disease
