General description

Histone H4 is one of the 5 main histone proteins involved in the structure of chromatin in eukaryotic cells. Featuring a main globular domain and a long N terminal tail H4 is involved with the structure of the nucleosomes of the ′beads on a string′ structure.

Specificity

Broad species cross-reactivity expected.
Recognizes Histone H4, Mr 10 kDa.

Immunogen

Calf thymus histone H4.

Application

Research Category
Epigenetics & Nuclear Function
Research Sub Category
Histones
Use Anti-Histone H4 Antibody (Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody) validated in WB to detect Histone H4 also known as Histone H4.

Quality

Routinely evaluated by western blot on acid extracts of HeLa cells treated with sodium butyrate.

Western Blot Analysis:
0.1-0.5 μg/mL of this lot detected Histone H4 in acid extracts of HeLa cells treated with or without 5 mM sodium butyrate. This lot did not cross react with Histone H2A, Histone H2B or Histone H3.

Target description

10 kDa
