Beclin 1 (BECN1) is a tumor suppressor gene. It is a 450 amino-acid protein having three domains. The gene encoding BECN1 is localized on human chromosome 17q21.
Application
ANTI-BECLIN1-BH3 DOMAIN antibody produced in rabbit has been used in Western blotting.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Beclin 1 (BECN1) acts as an initiator of autophagy and is vital in the early stages of autophagosome formation. It has a role in various tumors and cancers. BECN1 is a component of the phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase (PI3K) complex which mediates vesicle-trafficking.
Physical form
Supplied in PBS with 0.09% (W/V) sodium azide
