General description

RIMBP3 (RIMS binding protein 3) gene is exclusively expressed in mammals. All RIM-BP proteins have three SH3-domains and two to three fibronectin III repeats. RIM-BP3 is encoded by a single exon of ~ 5.5kb and three copies of this exon are present in the human genome on chromosome 22.

Application

Anti-RIMBP3 antibody produced in rabbit, a Prestige Antibody, is developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project . Each antibody is tested by immunohistochemistry against hundreds of normal and disease tissues. These images can be viewed on the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) site by clicking on the Image Gallery link. Biochem/physiol Actions

RIM-BP are found to bind to the presynaptic active zone proteins RIMs. They also serve as binding partners for voltage-gated Ca2+-channels. They form a functional link between the synaptic-vesicle fusion apparatus and Ca2+-channels.
