Application

Nitrile hydratase is an enzyme that is used to convert nitriles to amides. It is used to study the metabolism of nitriles in bacteria, to produce acrylamide, and to remove nitriles from wastewater [1]. Product 92011 is used to convert acrylonitrile to acrylamide.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Nitrile hydratase catalyses the hydration of nitriles to their corresponding amides. Nitrile hydratase is composed of α- and β-subunits. It has a non-heme iron or a noncorrin cobalt ion in a ligand environment that includes two oxidized cysteine residues [1].

Packaging

Bottomless glass bottle. Contents are inside inserted fused cone.

Other Notes

1 U corresponds to the amount of enzyme which converts 1 μmol acrylonitrile to acrylamide per minute at 30°C and pH 7.2
