Application
Chondroitin, a glucosaminoglycan (GAG), is a polysaccharide chain of alternating units of N-acetylgalactosamine (GalNAc) and glucuronic acid (GlcA) that can be sulfated on the either or both GalNAc and GlcA units. Chondroitin and its sulfates are frequently attached to proteins to form proteoglycans.

Previously, we identified two missense mutations in the chondroitin N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase-1 gene in patients with neuropathy. These mutations are associated with a profound decrease in chondroitin N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase-1 enzyme activity. Here, we describe a patient with neuropathy who is heterozygous for a

Chondroitin sulfate proteoglycans (CSPGs) consist of a core protein and glycosaminoglycan (GAG) chains. There is enormous structural diversity among CSPGs due to variation in the core protein, the number of GAG chains and the extent and position of sulfation. Most

Chondroitin sulfate proteoglycans (CSPGs) are principal pericellular and extracellular components that form regulatory milieu involving numerous biological and pathophysiological phenomena. Diverse functions of CSPGs can be mainly attributed to structural variability of their polysaccharide moieties, chondroitin sulfate glycosaminoglycans (CS-GAG). Comprehensive

Dermatan sulfate (DS) is synthesized from chondroitin sulfate (CS) by epimerization of glucuronic acid of CS to yield iduronic acid. In the present study, the role of CS and DS was examined in mice that received transection of nigrostriatal dopaminergic
